Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university with:
Pandit – Hindu candidates with Madhyama in Sanskrit or Bhushan in Hindi or B.A with Sanskrit/ Hindi or equivalent
Granthi – Sikh candidates with Vidwan in Punjabi or B.A with Punjabi or equivalent
Padre – Christian candidates, ordained priesthood by the appropriate ecclesiastical authority and still listed in the approved list of the local Bishop
Maulvi – Muslim candidates with Maulvi Alim in Arabic, Adib Alim in Urdu or equivalent standard in the regional language.
Pandit (Gorkha) Gorkha Regiments – Hindu (Gorkha) candidates with Madhyama in Sanskrit or Bhushan in Hindi or equivalent standard in the Nepali Language or B.A with Sanskrit / Hindi
Maulvi (Shia) Ladakh Scouts – Muslim Shia ladakh personnel candidates with Maulvi Alim in Arabic, Adib Alim in Urdu or B.A with Arabic/Urdu or equivalent
Bodh Monk (Mahayana) – Budhist (Mahayana) candidates who have been ordained Monk/ Budhist Priest, by the Appropriate Authority
Height – Minimum 160 Cms (157 Cms for Gorkhas and Ladakhi region candidates)
Chest – Minimum 77 Cms
Weight – 50 Kgs (48 Kgs for Gorkhas)
Physical Fitness Test – 1.6 Km (1 Mile) Run in 05.45 Minutes
Selection and Recruitment Procedure
JCO Religious Teacher (RT) or Dharmik Shikshak selection/ recruitment process will consist of Screening, Checking of original certificates, Medical examination, Written Examination and Interview.
JCO RT Written exam will be conducted on 25 Feb 2018 which will comprise of two papers as per the following exam pattern:
Paper- 1 (Max Marks – 100) – Common to all Religious categories
Paper 1st will comprise of objective type questions on General Awareness and will be only a qualifying exam. Minimum 40 marks are required to qualify in Paper 1st.
Paper- 2 (Max Marks – 100) – Candidates qualified in Paper 1st will be allowed to appear for Paper 2nd. The 2nd Paper will comprise of objective type questions to check the knowledge specific to belonging religious category. Minimum 40 marks are required to obtain in this paper to come in the merit list and to be eligible for interview. Thereafter eligible candidates will be interviewed by a board of officers at 1 ASC Training Centre Bangalore and 39 GTC Varanasi as applicable Regimental Centre.
Written exam result and list of shortlisted candidates for interview will be declared by 30 March 2018. Final selection of candidates will be based on merit list prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained in Paper 2nd and Interview.

Eligible and interested candidates are required to apply for Army JCO Religious Teacher Vacancies 2017-2018 to the concerned Headquarter Recruiting Zone/ Regimental Centre as per their permanent domicile. Civilian candidates for Pandit, Granthi, Padre and Maulvi category are required to register online and to submit online application on website www.joinindanarmy.nic.in. Pandit (Gorkha), Maulvi (Shia) & Bodh Monk (Mahayana) candidates and Serving Soldier candidates are required to submit written application (Offline) in the prescribed format.
