SSC Translator Recruitment Exam for 283 Posts 2020-2021

Staff Selection Commission has released JHT notification for filling up the following 283 Vacancies of Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translator and Senior Hindi Translator. Recruitment exam for these Group B posts will be held on 06 Oct 2020 at various centers of the SSC regions. All eligible candidates can apply online for the SSC JHT Vacancies through the website ssc.nic.in upto 25 July 2020. Eligibility Criteria (Age and Educational Qualification)

Age Limit – 18 to 30 years as on 01.01.2021 i.e. candidates must be born between 02.01.1991 to 01.01.2003 (relaxation in upper age limit as per Govt rules)

Educational Qualification:
Master’s degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory/ elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level
OR
Master’s degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory/ elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level
OR
Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi/ English, with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory/ elective subject or as the medium of a examination at the degree level
OR
Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi/ English, with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory/ elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level
OR
Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi/ English, with Hindi and English as compulsory/ elective subjects or either of the two as a medium of exam and the other as a compulsory/ elective subject at degree level
AND
Recognized Diploma/ Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa or 02 years (03 years for post code E) experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in central or state Govt of India Undertaking

SSC Translator Selection Process and Exam Syllabus

SSC Steno Recruitment process will consist of Paper 1 (Objective Type Computer Based Examination), Paper 2 (Conventional Type Descriptive Examination) and Document verification. Candidates shortlisted in Paper 1 Exam will be allowed to appear for the Paper 2 Exam. Thereafter, on the basis of performance in Paper 1 plus Paper 2, candidates will be shortlisted for document verification. Final selection and allocation of Ministries/ Departments will be based on performance in Paper 1 plus Paper 2 Exam and the preference of Posts/ Departments. Paper 1 (Objective Type Computer Based Examination) – 02 Hours duration
General Hindi: 100 Questions (100 Marks)
General English: 100 Questions (100 Marks)
Syllabus: The questions will be designed to test the candidates’ understanding of the languages and literature, correct use of words, phrases and idioms and ability to write the languages correctly, precisely and effectively. The questions will be of degree level.

Paper 2 (Conventional Type Descriptive Examination) – 02 Hours duration
Translation and Essay: 200 Marks
Syllabus: The 2nd paper will contain two passages for translation- one passage for translation from Hindi to English and one passage for translation from English to Hindi, and an Essay each in Hindi and English, to test the candidates’ translation skills and their ability to write as well as comprehend the two languages correctly, precisely and effectively. The level of the paper will be consistent with the educational qualifications prescribed.

Qualifying marks in Paper 1st and Paper 2nd:
UR Category: Minimum 30%
OBC/ EWS Category: Minimum 25%
Other Categories: Minimum 20%

Online Application form, Notification and Important Dates

Eligible and interested candidates can submit online application form for the SSC Translator Recruitment Exam through the website ssc.nic.in upto 25 July 2020. Online application contains two parts as One Time Registration and Online Application Form. One Time Registration part is for filling the basic information (Mobile number, Email, Photo ID, Educational details, Photograph, Signature & Left hand Thumb Impression) and Online Application Form part is required for preference for exam centers, payment of application fee etc details. Candidates are advised to read the instructions as mentioned in the recruitment notification and fill all the required details carefully while filling up the registration part & application part.

Application fee: Rs 100/-
The application fee can be paid through BHIM UPI, Net Banking or by using Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit card or in cash at SBI Branches by generating SBI Challan. SC, ST, Persons with disability, Ex-serviceman and Female candidates are exempted from payment of application fee.

SSC Translator Exam Admit Card – Admit Card for the SSC Translator exam will not be sent by Post. Candidates will have to download SSC Translator Admit Card (Call letter) online through the website of concerned Regional/ Sub Regional Offices.

Last date of online fee payment – 27 July 2020 (11.30 PM)
Last date of offline fee payment through Challan – 31 July 2020
