Post Name – Security Assistant/ Executive and Multi Tasking Staff/ General (General Central Service, Group C, Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial).
Pay Scale:
Security Assistant (SA) – Rs 21700-69100 (Pay matrix level-3) plus admissible Central Govt allowances.
Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) – Rs 18000-56900 (Pay matrix level-1) plus admissible Central Govt allowances.
Total Number of Vacancies – 1675 Posts
Age Limit – Maximum 27 years for Security Assistant and 18-25 years for Multi Tasking Staff as on 17.02.2023. Relaxation in upper age limit will be 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates.
Educational Qualification – 10th Pass (Matriculation) or equivalent from a recognized Board and knowledge of any one of the local language/ dialect as mentioned in vacancy table against each Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau (SIB). Field experience in Intelligence work is desirable.

IB SA MTS Selection Process and Exam Pattern
Security Assistant and MTS recruitment process consists of Tier-1 (objective type online exam), Tier-2 (descriptive type written exam), Tier-3 (Interview/ Personality test) for SA/ Exe only, Character & Antecedent verification and Medical examination as per the details below:
Tier-1 (Objective Type Online Exam)
Tier 1 exam will be of 01 Hour duration and consist of total 100 objective type multiple choice questions (01 mark each) of maximum 100 Marks. There will be negative marking of ¼ mark for each wrong answer. Minimum 35 marks for UR/ EWS, 34 marks for OBC and minimum 33 marks for SC/ST candidates will be mandatory to qualify the Tier 1 Exam. On the basis of performance in Tier-1 exam, candidates will be shortlisted for Tier-2 exam at 10 times the number of vacancies.
Question Paper for Security Assistant and MTS Tier 1 Exam will be divided into 05 Parts as per the pattern below:
- General Awareness: 20 Questions (20 Marks)
- Quantitative Aptitude: 20 Questions (20 Marks)
- Numerical/ Analytical/ Logical Ability & Reasoning: 20 Questions (20 Marks)
- English Language: 20 Questions (20 Marks)
- General Studies: 20 Questions (20 Marks)
Tier-2 (Descriptive type Written Exam)
Candidates shortlisted from Tier 1 Exam will be allowed to appear for Tier 2 Exam (qualifying nature). Short listing of candidates for the Tier 2 exam will be based on the marks obtained by them in the Tier 1 Exam. The Tier 2 exam will be of 1 Hour duration and will consist of 02 parts as Part A and Part B (for SA/ Exe only) as per the details below:
Part A (Descriptive type written exam) – Part A exam is common for SA/Exe & MTS/Gen and consists of translation of a passage of 500 words from local language/ dialect to English and vice versa. Part A will be of maximum 40 Marks and minimum 20 Marks for SA/Exe and 16 Marks for MTS/Gen will be mandatory to qualify the exam.
Part B (Spoken ability) – Part B will be conducted for SA/Exe only and consist of Spoken ability test. The spoken ability will be assessed at the time of SA/ Exe Tier-3 exam (Interview/ Personality test).
Tier-3 (Interview/ Personality Test)
Candidates, who opt for SA/Exe only and for both the posts (SA/Exe and MTS/Gen), appearing in Tier-2 exam will be provisionally admitted in Tier-3 exam (interview/ personality test). The Tier 3 Exam will be of maximum 50 Marks.
Merit List and Selection – For those candidates who opted for SA/Exe and both the posts, final merit list will be prepared on the basis of combined performance in Tier-1 and Tier-3 exam. While, for those candidates who opted for MTS/Gen only and who opted for both the posts but not selected for SA/Exe, final merit list will be prepared on the basis of performance in Tier-1 exam (subject to qualifying in Tier-1 exam for MTS/Gen).
Final selection of candidates will be further subject to successful completion of Character & Antecedent verification followed by medical examination etc.

Online Application Form, Important Dates and Notification
Eligible and desirous candidates are required to submit online application form for the Intelligence Bureau Security Assistant MTS Exam 2023-24 through www.mha.gov.in up to 17th Feb 2023. To submit the SA MTS online form, complete both parts as registration (personal, academic & other details) and application form submission (photo & signature upload and fee payment, if applicable). After the registration process, preserve your Application Sequence Number (ASN) for further requirements.
Before applying online, keep ready the following details and documents:
1. Valid e-mail ID and Mobile Number.
2. Scanned copy of the recent passport size color Photograph (50-100KB) in jpg format and not older than twelve weeks. Candidates should ensure that the same photograph is used throughout this recruitment process.
3. Scanned signature (50-100KB) in jpg/jpeg format only.
4. Valid photo ID proof issued by Central/ State Govt.
5. Certificate/ Marksheet pertaining to Class 10th.
6. Certificate(s)/ Marksheet(s) pertaining to Class 12th or Diploma or Graduation (if any).
After submitting the online application form, take printout of the registration slip/ application form for reference. Any documents or hard copy of online application form are not required to send by Post.
Examination fee:
GEN/ OBC/ EWS male candidates are required to pay Rs 50/- as examination fee plus Rs 450/- as recruitment processing charges. All other candidates are required to pay Rs 450/- as recruitment processing charges. The fee can be paid by using Debit Cards (RuPay/ Visa/ MasterCard/ Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet Banking, UPI, SBI challan etc.
